KEENE, N.H.4/1/02 - Freshman Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.)
tied a school record with six goals and added three assists to lead
the Keene State College women's lacrosse team to a 12-2
non-conference win over New England College in Keene on Monday.
Keene State evened its record at 2-2. It was the first game of
the season for NEC. The Pilgrims had won the three previous
meetings between the two teams.
The Owls scored the first seven goals of the game. After
tallying just one time in the first half, Mason erupted for five
goals in the second half. She now has team-high 10 goals this
season. Mason tied the record set by Ryan Curran against Salem
State in the 2000 season.
Erin Boudreau (Framingham, MA.) had three goals; Natalie Kent
(Billerica, MA.) netted a pair and Brianne Manley (Nashua, NH) also
scored for KSC. Samantha Webb scored both of NEC's goals.
Colleen McSweeney (East Longmeadow, MA.) had a strong game in
goal for KSC finishing with nine saves. Autumn Pepin (Waterville,
Me.) made nine saves for NEC before Maliya Hecker (0 saves) took
over late in the second half.
Keene State hosts Salem State on Thursday (4 p.m.).
