PLYMOUTH, N.H. 4/18/02 - Sophomore Katie Sheridan (West
Sayville, N.Y.) and senior Robin Hartman (Westminster, Md.)
combined for nine goals and four assistsThursday, leading Plymouth
State College to a 19-5 triumph over Keene State College in a
Little East Conference women's lacrosse game at Arold Field.
The Panthers scored eight unanswered goals midway through the
first half to surge to a 10-1 lead. PSC had a 12-2 advantage at
halftime and extended it to 17-2 midway through the second half
before coasting home with the victory.
It was the ninth consecutive victory for the Panthers, who
improve to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in LEC games. Keene State drops to
6-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Sheridan finished with five goals and two assists, scoring five
times in a game for the fourth time this season. Hartman added four
goals and a pair of assists, while junior Julie Shields (Whitby,
Ont.) contributed three goals.
Also getting into the scoring act for PSC were juniors Janet
Conner (South Freeport, ME) and Marushka Eddy (Nantucket, MA.) each
with a goal and an assist, and seniors Brooke Smith (Columbia, SC),
Marcia Wood (Sanford, ME) and Karen Hosmer (Westminster, Md.) and
juniors Melissa Cotton (Osterville, MA.) and Jill Matteson
(Chatham, MA.) with one goal apiece.
Freshman Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.), who leads the LEC in
scoring, tallied the first four Keene State goals, giving her 38 on
the season. Sophomore Natalie Kent (Billerica, MA.) rounded out the
scoring for the Owls.
PSC freshman goalie Melissa Gravilla (Andover, N.H.) was
credited with 15 saves, while KSC goalies Colleen McSweeney (East
Longmeadow, MA.) and Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt.) combined to make 24
saves.
Plymouth State has another LEC game Saturday at Rhode Island
College (1 p.m.) before returning home to host Bowdoin Sunday in a
non-conference contest (2 p.m.). Keene State hosts Western
Connecticut Saturday at 1 p.m.
