Keene, NH 4/20/02 - Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) set a Owl
record with seven goals and Natalie Kent (Billerica, MA.) added
five goals to lead the Keene State College women's lacrosse team to
a 14-11 Little East Conference victory over Western Connecticut
State University in Keene on Saturday.
Keene State improves to 7-4 (3-1 LEC) while Western CT falls to
2-8 (1-3 LEC).
Trailing 4-3 midway in the first half, Keene State scored the
next eight goals of the game to go up 11-4. The Colonials however
outscored KSC 7-2 to close the deficit to 13-11 with just over
three minutes to play. Mason scored an unassisted goal with two
minutes to play as the Owls hung on for the victory. Mason now has
a team-high 45 goals this season.
Erin Boudreau (Framingham, MA.), and Erin Mehner (Stamford, CT)
scored the other KSC goals.
Meaghan Willis (Kensington, NH) had four goals and three assists
to lead the Colonials.
Colleen McSweeney (E. Longmeadow, MA.) had six saves and Jaime
Litch (Addison, Vt.) made one save for KSC. Katie Brunetti
(Newtown, CT) stopped six shots for WCSU.
Keene State hosts Castleton State on Monday (4 p.m.).
