Keene, NH 4/30/02 - Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) had six
goals and four assists and Natalie Kent (Billerica, MA.) finished
with five goals and four assists to lead the Keene State College
women's lacrosse team to a 20-2 victory over R.I. College in a
Little East Conference quarterfinal game played in Keene on
Tuesday.
The tournament's third seed, KSC (9-6) advances to Friday's
semifinal (12 p.m.) at Plymouth State College where they will face
second seed Eastern CT (11-3). Earlier this season, ECSU edged the
Owls 12-11 in double-overtime. With the win, KSC ties the program
record for victories (9) set last season. Sixth seed RIC falls to
3-8.
Mason's 10-point game enables her to set a new KSC career point
mark (99) in just one season. Johanna Lozier held the previously
record (91). Her 66 goals this season is just three shy of the
career mark (69) set by Erica Morse. Mason increased her career
assist record to 33.
Erin Mehner (Stamford, CT) also had four goals and three assists
in the game.
Colleen McSweeney (East Longmeadow, MA.) made two saves for KSC
while Lauren Gerde made 14 saves for the Anchorwomen.
