NEW LONDON, N.H. 4/9/02 - The Keene State College women's
lacrosse team saw its four game winning streak come to an end with
a 22-17 non-conference loss to Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday.
Michelle Mason (Fairport, NY) had a seven point day for the Owls
with six goals and one assist. It was the third time this season
she has tied the KSC record for goals in a game. Natalie Kent
(Billerica, MA.) and Erin Mehner (Stamford, CT) each had three
goals while Liz Maddocks finished with two goals and an assist.
Jesse Wilfert (Boxborough, MA.) had six goals and three assists
and teammate Geri Matyiko also had six goals for the Chargers
(3-2).
The Owls, who trailed 14-8 at the break, made things interesting
by outscoring Colby-Sawyer 9-8 in the second half.
Colleen McSweeney (East Longmeadow, MA.) stopped seven shots for
KSC while Amanda Goodell and Sarah Cook combined to make 15 saves
for the Chargers.
Keene State (4-3) will be at Franklin Pierce on Thursday (4
p.m.).
