Murphy (Mansfield, MA.) had four goals and two assists to lead
Keene State College to a 8-5 non-conference women's lacrosse
victory over New England College in Keene on Tuesday.
Playing its home season-opener, KSC improves to 2-1 while New
England College falls to 0-2.
Kristal Lundegaard (Babylon, N.Y.) and Liz Maddocks (Essex, Vt.)
finished with two goals each for KSC. Leslie Parker (West
Barnstable, MA.) had two goals and assists to lead the Pilgrims.
Keene State jumped out to a 4-1 half-time lead. After the
Owls extended their lead to 7-1 early in the second half, NEC
answered with four straight goals to pull within 7-5 on an
unassisted tally by Maren Worley (No. Ridgeville, OH) with three
minutes to play. Murphy added the final Owl goal with 16 seconds to
play.
Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt.) (four saves) and Mandy Gray (Sharon,
MA.) (two saves) each played a half in goal for KSC. Laura
Bishop (Brunswick, Me.) finished with 22 saves for the Pilgrims.
Keene State host Lasell College (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
