'KEENE, N.H. 4/10/03 – Colleen
Murphy (Mansfield, MA.) and Kristal Lundegaard (Babylon, N.Y.) had
three goals each to lead the Keene State College women's lacrosse
team to its fifth straight win, a 12-7 non-conference victory over
Franklin Pierce College at Owl Stadium Complex on Thursday.
Keene State improves to 6-1 while FPC falls to 2-4. The Owls are
one win shy of tying the record for consecutive wins (6).
Natalie Kent (Billerica, MA) had two goals and Liz Maddocks
(Essex, Vt.), Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.), Erin Mehner
(Stamford, CT), and Joanna Laishley (Larchmont, N.Y.) added single
tallies for the Owls.
Alissa Silverman (Sandwich, MA.) had three goals and Courtney
Boardman (Buxton, Me.) finished with two goals to lead the Ravens.
Keene State led 6-4 at half time. FPC closed the gap to
7-6 on a goal by Shalon King (Phippsburg, Me.) with 10:22 to
play. Keene State scored the next five goals to pull away
from the Ravens.
"I thought we played pretty well," said KSC Emily Johnson.
"They were very fast up front, but we picked it up when we needed
to and got the win."
Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt.) (four saves) and Mandy Gray (Sharon,
MA.) (three saves) each played a half in goal for KSC. Ashley
Simpson (Ridgefield, CT) finished with 15 saves for Franklin
Pierce.
KSC has defeated FPC in the six games the teams have played.
