'KEENE, N.H. 4/24/03 – The Keene State
College women's lacrosse team snapped a three game losing streak
with a 12-5 Little East Conference victory over the University of
Southern ME at Owl Stadium Complex on Thursday.
KSC improves to 8-4 (2-2 LEC) while USM falls to 4-9 (2-3 LEC).
Natalie Kent (Billerica, MA.) and Colleen Murphy (Mansfield,
MA.) had three goals each to lead the Owls' attack. Kent also added
two assists. Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.) had a pair of
goals for KSC. Playing in her final home regular season game,
senior Joanna Laishley (Larchmont, N.Y.) finished with a goal and
an assist.
Emily Kirkland (Damariscotta, Me.) and Jess Callahan (Gardiner,
Me.) led the Huskies with two goals each.
USM went ahead 2-1 before Keene State answered with three
consecutive goals to take a 4-2 halftime lead.
The Owls' scored the first five goals of the second half to take
a 9-2 lead. The Huskies closed the gap to 9-5 on a goal by
Callahan with 5:07 remaining. KSC regrouped to net the last
three goals of the game.
Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt.) had three saves and Mandy Gray
(Sharon, MA.) who played the last 10 minutes; saw action in goal
for KSC.
Andrea Guerette (Fairfield, Me.) made 13 saves for the Huskies.
KSC travels to Eastern CT on Saturday for a LEC game (1 p.m.).
