'MANSFIELD, CT – Mo Deegan (WESTPORT) had six
goals and three assists to lift the Eastern Connecticut State
University women's lacrosse
team to an 18-8 Little East Conference victory over Keene State
College Monday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The win is the seventh straight for Eastern (7-4, 5-1 little
east), which won its final five conference matches after an opening
loss. The Warriors are seeded second in the conference playoffs and
will host a
semifinal-round match Friday. Eastern will face the winner of a
first-round match between No. 3 seed Western Connecticut
State University and No. 6
seed MAachusetts Dartmouth. The tournament final is scheduled
for Sunday at the site of the highest remaining tournament seed.
Freshman midfielders Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.) led Keene
with four goals and with three caused turnovers. Collen Murphy
(Mansfield, MA.) also added two goals for the Owls.
Fourth-seeded Keene STATE (8-6, 2-4 Little East) will host
fifth-seeded University of Southern ME in a first-round match
Tuesday.
Against Keene, Eastern scored 12 of the first 13 goals to move
out to an 11-goal lead. Deegan contributed to half of the those
goals with five goals and an assist.
Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt.) had four saves and Mandy Gray
(Sharon, MA.) finished weith eight saves for KSC in goal.
