KEENE, N.H. 10/2/04 - Dartmouth College men's and women's cross country teams raced to victories at the 10th Annual Keene State College Invitational held at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.

The Dartmouth men tallied 28 points to outdistance Keene State (44 points), which saw its string of six straight titles come to an end. The Big Green placed five runners in the top-10 led by Neal Graves (2nd, 25:30) Grant Allen (4th, 26:20), and George McArdle (5th, 26:22). Keene State senior All-America Dave Bridgewater (Unionville, Conn.) defended his individual championship by finishing first with a time of 25:30 over the five-mile course.

"I got out good and felt fine," said Bridgewater, who led from start to finish. "I was by myself the whole time, so I just tried to roll it out."

Ryan Gough (3rd, 26:11) and Joe Hegarty (8th, 26:30) also had strong performances for the Owls.

The Dartmouth women (34 points) had five runners in the top-10 to edge Keene State (35 points) for the team title. Laura Moser led Dartmouth with a second place effort (19:06) on the 5K course.

The defending champion Owls were paced by Erin Landon (3rd, 19:10), Stephanie Gibson (4th, 19:17), and Laurie Yorgensen (5th, 19:47).

"I had to work the whole time, but I was pleased with my race," said Landon, a transfer from Central Conn., who is in her first-year competing for KSC.

Springfield College's Meg Young won the individual women's championship with a time of 19:01.

"I thought both of our teams did a good job," said KSC Coach Peter Thomas. "When everyone gets healthy, we'll be running better in a month."
