BOSTON, MASS. 10/8/04 - Keene State College's Dave Bridgewater
(Unionville, Conn.) earned All-New England honors with his 14th
place performance at the New England Cross Country Championships
held Friday afternoon at Boston's Franklin Park.
Bridgewater, an All-American last season, posted a time of 25:11
over the 4.95 mile course.
Keene State placed 15th in the team scoring with 439 points.
Providence College had the top three runners, including individual
champ Martin Fagan (24:20) to run away with the men's team title
(25 points).
Ryan Gough (Billerica, Mass.) (94th/26:34), Derrick Hamel
(Northwood, N.H.) (98th/26:38), Patrick Ard (Kingston,
N.H.)(99th/26:39), and Matthew Haley (Middleton, Mass.)
(134th/27:03) round out the top scorers for the Owls.
Keene State finished 25th in the women's competiton with 708
points. Stephanie Gibson (Sanborton, N.H.) was the first Owl
finisher. She placed 61st on the 5.017K course with a time of
19:10. Erin Landon (Hampton, Conn.) (102nd/19:38), Laurie Yorgensen
(Wethersfield, Conn.)(169th/20:27, Stephanie Westcott (Bellows
Falls, Vt.)(184th/20:43), and Allison Fergione (Marlborough, Conn.)
(192nd/20:49) were among the top five scorers for KSC.
Harvard's Lindsey Scherf won the women's individual championship
in a time of 17:22 while Boston University claimed the team title
with 50 points.
KSC will compete at the LEC/Alliance Championship at
UMass-Dartmouth on October 30.
