COLFAX, WI. 11/20/04- It was not a good day on the trails for
the Keene State College men's cross country team which placed a
disappointing 20th out of 24 teams at the NCAA Division III
Championships held Saturday at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax,
WI.
Keene State, which was making its eighth straight appearance at
the national meet, had its poorest team performance in Division III
competition.
On the bright side, senior Dave Bridgewater (Unionville, Conn.)
earned All-America honors for the second straight year with his
25th place effort. Bridgewater, who covered the 8K course in a time
of 25:13, becomes the 12th Owl men's runner to win two or more
All-American certificates at the NCAA Championships.
Patrick Ard (Kingston, N.H.) was the second Owl to the finish
line. He was 88th in a time of 25:50. Other top scorers for Keene
State include Ryan Gough (Billerica, Mass; 125th/26:15), Joseph
Hegarty (Springfield, Mass.; 165th/25:45), and Derrick Hamel
(Northwood, N.H.; 193rd/27:16).
Calvin (Mich.) College with 71 points claimed its third straight
national championship. North Central (Ill.) was a close second with
85 points.
Josh Moen of Wartburg (IA.) College defended his individual
championship with a winning time of 24:28.
