W.Lax: Owls Winning Streak Snapped by Eastern Conn

'KEENE, N.H. 4/24/04 - The Keene State College women's lacrosse team had its three game winning streak snapped with a 12-10 Little East Conference loss to Eastern Connecticut State University at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.

The Owls, who have never beaten Eastern Connecticut, fall to 10-4 and 4-2 in the conference.  The Warriors improve to 6-6 and 3-2.  Keene State's seed in the upcoming Little East Conference Tournament is contingent upon the outcome of the Eastern Connecticut/Southern Maine contest on Sunday.

Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) had four goals to lead the Owls.  Kristal Lundegaard (Babylon, N.Y.) and Steph Georgevits (Concord, N.H.) each tallied a pair of goals, while Colleen Murphy (Mansfield, Mass.) and Natalie Kent (Billerica, Mass.) added single goals.

Mo Deegan (Westport, Conn.) led the Warriors with five goals and three assists.

The first 10 minutes of the game was a back and forth battle between the Owls and the Warriors.  KSC scored the last goal of the first half to take an 8-4 lead going into the break.

Eastern Connecticut returned from the half to close the deficit to 8-6 on goals by Kara Mastroianni (Newington, Conn.) and Deegan.  KSC scored the next two on goals from Mason and Murphy to make it 10-6, but would not score again the remainder of the game.  The Warriors scored the next six goals of the match for a 12-10 come-from-behind victory.

Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt.) finished with five saves for KSC.  Erika Blozie (South Windsor, Conn.) made nine saves for Eastern Conn.

Keene State gears up for the Little East Conference Tournament beginning on Tuesday, site and time yet to be determined.
