'KEENE, N.H. 5/8/04 - Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) finished
with five goals and three assists to lead the top seed Keene State
College women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 victory over fourth seed
Curry College in an ECAC Division III New England Tournament
semifinal game played Saturday at Owl Athletic Complex.
Keene State (12-5) advances to the championship game where they
will face the winner of the Babson College/Eastern Conn. State
University game. The championship game will be held at Owl
Athletic Complex on Sunday (4 p.m.). This is the first ECAC
Championship appearance for the Owls.
KSC led 7-3 at the 11:00 minute mark, and then erupted for five
unanswered goals to take a 12-3 lead at the
break.
In addition to Mason, Colleen Murphy (Mansfield, Mass.) and
Natalie Kent (Billerica, Mass.) tallied four goals apiece, while
Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.) chipped in with three. Erin
Mehner (Stamford, Conn.) added a single goal for the Owls.
Emily Knight (Boulder, Co.) and Angela Burgess (Tyngsboro,
Mass.) had two goals each to lead the Colonel's. Jana
Williamson (Salem, Mass.) and Nicole Wandy (Glastonbury, Conn.)
also scored for Curry.
Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt.) and Mandy Gray (Sharon, Mass.) split
time in goal for KSC, stopping two shots each. Leigh Johnston
(Randolph, Mass.) finished with eight saves for Curry. KSC
out-shot Curry 34-16.
Curry concludes its season with a 14-5 record.
