'BEVERLY, MASS. 03/10/05 - The Keene State College women's
lacrosse team opened its 2005 season with a 15-8 loss to
Endicott College on Thursday in Beverly, Mass.
The Owls (0-1), who had beaten the Gulls (12-5) in 2003 and last
year 16-8 in Keene, hope to regroup during their Spring Break trip
to Florida. Endicott starts the season 1-0.
"We know what we need to work on now," said KSC head coach Emily
Johnson. "We're looking forward to improving on some areas in
Florida."
KSC scored the first goal of the game, but never led again as EC
took an 8-4 lead at the break.
Junior Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.) had three goals to lead
the Owls. Kristal Lundegaard (Babylon, N.Y.) tallied a pair
of goals, while Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.), Alex Manzin (Avon,
Conn.), and Michelle Mazzotta (Cromwell, Conn.) added single
goals.
Christine Wilmott (Barre, Vt.) led the Gulls with seven
goals.
Mandy Gray (Sharon, Mass.) finished with seven saves for the
Owls. Erin Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) made eight saves for
Endicott.
KSC will play a pair of games in Wellington, Florida during
Spring Break. They face Vassar College on Monday (Noon) and
Franklin Marshall College on Thursday (Noon).
