'KEENE, N.H. 4/9/05 - Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.) had
four goals to lead Keene State College to a 14-7 victory over Rhode
Island College in a Little East Conference women's lacrosse game
played at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.
It was the third straight win for KSC (5-3, 2-0 LEC) while RIC
falls to (3-2, 0-2 LEC).
Trailing 1-0 on an early goal by Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth,
R.I.), KSC scored the next five goals, including a pair by
Saunders, to go up 5-1. The Owls pushed their lead up to 10-3 at
the half. Saunders now has eight goals this season.
Stephanie Georgevits (Concord, N.H.) had two goals and Alexandra
Manzin (Avon, Conn.), Christina Honeycutt (Weare, N.H.), Michelle
Mason (Fairport, N.Y.), Lanaya Nelson (Chester,Conn.) and Andrea
Mitchell (Bow, N.H.) added single goals for KSC.
Gavin finished with four goals to give her 24 on the
season. Melissa Reggio (Commack, R.I.), Danielle Beaudry (W.
Greenwich, R.I.) and Sydney Culbertson (N. Kingstown, R.I.) had one
goal each for the Anchorwomen.
KSC's Mandy Gray (Sharon, Mass.) had nine saves while RIC goalie
Micaela Morris (Barrington, R.I.) finished with 15 saves.
Keene State has won all five meetings between the two teams.
Keene State is off until next Thursday when they host rival
Plymouth State University in a 4 p.m. LEC game.
