'KEENE, N.H. 4/22/06 - The Keene State College women's lacrosse
team lost to Eastern Connecticut State University 7-5 in a Little
East Conference game played at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Jenna Faiola (Billerica, Mass.) had three goals and Erin Calkins
(Stony Brook, N.Y.) had a strong game in goal with 19 saves to lead
ECSU (7-7, 4-1 LEC), which moves into sole possession of second
place in the LEC standings.
Colleen Murphy (Mansfield, Mass.) scored two goals to lead KSC
(6-9, 3-2 LEC).
With the scored knotted at 1-1, the Warriors tallied the next
three goals to go up 4-1. Two of those goals came from Kara Bradley
(North Haven, Conn.) on free position shots. Steph Georgevits
(Concord, N.H.) scored for KSC with 1:32 remaining to make it a 4-2
game at the half.
Both teams traded goals to start the second half. Lauren
Saunders (Fremont, N.H.) scored on a free position shot to cut the
Warriors lead to 5-4 at the 9:47 mark. Lily Anderson
(Portland, Me.) and Faiola scored to push ECSU's lead to 7-4.
Alexandra Mainzin (Avon, Conn.) scored in the closing seconds for
KSC.
Mandy Gray finished with 10 saves for Keene State.
Prior to the game, KSC honored its eight seniors; Jamie Cotton
(Newton, Mass.), Kelly Goss (Nashua, N.H.), Melony Waters
(Prospect, Conn.), Kristal Lundegaard (Babylon, N.Y.), Manzin,
Gray, Saunders, and Murphy.
Keene State wraps up its regular season at South Maine on
Saturday (1 p.m.). Eastern Conn. hosts R.I. College next
Saturday (11:30 a.m.).
