'KEENE, N.H. 4/5/06 - Keene State College defeated Bridgewater
State 14-7 in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Owl
Athletic Complex on Wednesday.
After dropping their first five games of the season, the Owls
(3-5) have now won three straight. Bridgewater falls to 2-4.
The Owls had a balanced attack with Andrea Mitchell (Bow, N.H.),
Colleen Murphy (Mansfield, Mass.), Kristal Lundegaard (Babylon,
N.Y.), and Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.), netting three goals
each. Saunders, the Little East Conference's offensive player of
the week, leads the team with 21 goals.
Corrine Baker (Mansfield, Mass.) led BSC with four goals.
She leads the Bears with 23 goals.
Leading 7-5 at the half, the Owls netted four straight goals in
a span of four minutes to go up 11-5.
Mandy Gray (Sharon, Mass.) with one save and Jen Gearing
(Westfield, Mass.), who finished with fives saves, each played a
half in goal for Keene State.
Melissa Settipani (Gloucester, Mass.) stopped 13 shots for BSC.
It was KSC's first win over Bridgewater State in five meetings.
Keene State returns to LEC play on Saturday with a game at R.I.
College (1 p.m.). Bridgewater State is at Wellesley College
on Friday (4:30 p.m.).
