BOSTON, MASS 10/6/07- Keene State College cross country teams
struggled in the heat at Saturday's New England Championship held
at Franklin Park in Boston. Ranked 13th nationally and
third in New England, the Owl women tallied 404 points to finish
12th overall and sixth among Division III entrants in the 44-team
field. The KSC men collected 587 points putting them 22nd.
Senior Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, NY) was the first Owl
to the finish line. The senior placed fifth with a time of
18:11. Freshman Nicole Slane (Milford, NH) was the next Owl
to cross the line in 38th place with a time of 19:14.
Sophomore Katelyn Carr (Scituate, Mass.) finished 99th at the 20:00
minute mark, sophomore Adelle Zocher (Branford, CT) placed 111th
with a time of 20:11, and sophomore Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.)
finished 151st with a time of 20:33.
The race was won by Boston University senior Andrea Walkonen with a
winning time of 17:36. Quinnipiac University won the meet
with a team score of 72.
Freshman Craig MacPherson (Derry, NH) was the first Owl to
finish, placing 69th with a time of 26:31. Junior Jason
Garrity (Topsfield, Mass.) placed 85th with a time of 26:41,
freshman Charlie Baldour (Newtown, CT) finished 127th with a time
of 27:17, sophomore Patrick Davis (Wethersfield, CT) placed 137th
at 27:27, and sophomore Sam Wood (Laconia, NH) placed 169th at
28:04.
The winner was Boston College's senior Patrick Mellea with a
time of 24:45. Brown university won the meet with a final
score of 95 points.
The Owls next meet is at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute
Invitational on October 20th at 1pm.
