'KEENE, N.H. 3/22/07 - The Keene State College women's lacrosse
team dropped its home season-opener 15-4 to Springfield College in
a non-conference game played Thursday afternoon at Owl Athletic
Complex.
Junior attack Michelle Mazzotta (Cromwell, Conn.) scored two
goals for the Owls (0-2). Senior attack Megan Moran (Derry,
N.H.) and freshman attack Dene Tully (Peabody, Mass.) tallied
single goals for KSC.
Senior Ashley Martell (Billerica, Mass.) had four goals and two
assists to lead Springfield (4-1). Rachel Lampros
(Boxborough, Mass.) added three goals and three assists and Heidi
Eidse (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) had two goals and three assists and Lisa
Thomas (Whitman, Mass.) finished with three goals each for the
Pride.
Keene State took an early 3-2 lead on a goal by Tully at the
13:03 mark of the first half. Springfield scored the next
four goals to take a 6-3 halftime lead.
After trading goals in the opening minutes of the second half,
the Pride scored the next eight goals of the game.
Jen Gearing (Westfield, Mass.) made seven saves for the
Owls. Lauren McAuley (Yorktown, N.Y.) finished with four
saves for the Pride.
Keene State has lost all five games against Springfield.
Keene State is off until next Thursday, March 29 when it hosts
New England College (4 p.m.)
Springfield hosts Plymouth State on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
