'NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 3/29/07 - The Keene State College
women's lacrosse team began its Little East Conference schedule
with a 9-4 road victory over UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday. It was
the second straight win for the Owls (2-2, 1-0 LEC).
Michelle Mazzotta (Cromwell, Conn.) led KSC with three goals and
two assists. Freshman Dene Tully (Peabody, Mass.) scored two
goals and Meagan Moran (Derry, N.H.), Steph Gerogevits (Concord,
N.H.), Lauren Copper (Danbury, Conn.), and Andrea Mitchell tallied
one goal each for the Owls.
After giving up the first goal of the game, KSC scored six
unanswered goals to take a 6-3 halftime lead. The Owls allowed just
one Corsair goal in the second half. "I thought our defense
was solid today," said KSC Coach Michelle Mason. "We're
starting to be more aggressive and that's a good sign."
Katelyn Elliot had a goal and two assists to lead UMD (2-4, 0-1
LEC)
Goalie Jen Gearing (Westfield, Mass.) turned aside eight shots
for KSC.
Keene State is at Endicott College on Monday (4 p.m.).
