'WORCESTER, MASS. 5/9/07--- Keene State College season came to
an end with an 11-9 loss to Worcester State College in a
first-round game of the ECAC Division III New England Women's
Lacrosse Tournament in Worcester on Wednesday night.
The Owls (8-7), the fifth seed in the tournament, fell behind
8-2, before scoring the final two goals of the half. They
scored three straight goals in the second half to cut the lead to
8-7, but would get no closer. WSC netted three goals to push
its lead back up to 11-7. The fourth-seeded Lancers (12-4)
move on the semifinals where they will face top seed Plymouth
State.
Steph Georgevits (Concord, N.H.) and Melissa Stopera (Scotia
Glenville, N.Y.) scored two goals each and Samantha Martella
(Dixhills, N.Y.), Michelle Mazzotta (Cromwell, Conn.), Genna
Florkowski (Northport, N.Y.), Molly Corcoran (Concord, N.H.), and
Dene Tully (Peabody, Mass.0 added single goals for the Owls.
Ann Clark led the Lancers with six goals.
Jen Gearing (Westfield, Mass.) had 16 saves for KSC.
Lyndsey Nunes stopped 19 shots for WSC.
