NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 9/15/07 - Jennifer Adams raced to a first
place finish at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational in North Dartmouth
on Saturday.
The senior form Saratoga Springs, N.Y., posted a time of 17:45 on
the fast UMD 5K course. It was the second Invitational
victory for Adams, who also raced to a win at the Bates College
meet last year. Adams earned All-American honors in 2005.
Adams and freshman Nicole Slane (Guilford, N.H.) led the Keene
State women to a second place finish at the Invitational with 145
points. Slane, who dropped out of last week's Dartmouth
Invitational, made a strong debut with a fifth place finish
(18:34).
Kate Carr (Scituate, Mass.) (36th/19:26), Rita Marcotte (Heath,
Mass.) (46th/19:36), and Melissa Pelletier (Merrimack, N.H.)
(65th/19:58) round out the scorers for the Owls.
Amherst College won the women's title with 42 points.
Junior Jason Garrity (Topsfield, Mass.) finished 13th (24:31) to
pace the KSC men's team on the five mile course. Other top
finishers for the Owls included Jared Samuel (Londonderry,
N.H.) (26th/25:55), freshman Timothy Pipp (New Ipswich, N.H.)
(30th/26:01), Patrick Davis (Wethersfield, Conn.) (32nd/26:05), and
freshman Craig MacPherson (36th/26:14).
KSC placed sixth in team scoring with 137 points. Trinity won
the meet with 55 points.
The Owls will compete at the Iona Meet of Champions next
Saturday.
