BOSTON, MASS. 10/11/08 - The Keene State men finished 13th and the
Owl women placed 19 at the New England Championships held at
Boston's Franklin Park on Saturday.
The Owl men, who finished fourth among Division III entries, had
419 points in the 47-team field. UMass-Lowell won the team
title with 79 points. KSC entered the race ranked 16th nationally
and third in New England Division III.
Sophomore Craig MacPherson (Derry, N.H.) was the
Owls' top finisher, placing 54th (25:41) on the five mile
course. He was followed to the finish line by the sophomore
trio of Brandon Schillemat (Nelson, N.H.) (72nd,
25:55), Jeff Trethewey (Merrimack, N.H.) (83rd,
26:03), and Timothy Pipp (New Ipswich,
N.H.)(101st, 26:16), and junior Patrick Davis
(Wethersfield, Conn.) (108th, 26:19).
Tim Richie of Boston College won the race with a time of 24:35.
KSC, ranked eighth in New England Division III, tallied 566 points
in the 45 team women's field. Boston College claimed the team
championship with 38 points.
Junior Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.) paced the Owls
with her 71st place finish (19:05) on the 5K course. Other
top finishers for KSC included freshmen Heather
Pierce (Buckland, Mass.) (92nd, 19:22) and Paige
Mills (Keene, N.H.) (112th, 19:34), sophomore Amy
Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) (145th, 19:59), and freshman
Natalie Ferro (Dennis, Mass.) (146th. 20:00).
Andrea Walkonen of Boston University won the women's race with a
time of 17:19.
The owls are off until Oct. 25th when they race at the RPI
Invitational.
