BRISTOL, R.I. 11/8/08 - The Keene State College men's cross country team raced to a second place finish at the ECAC Division III Cross Country Championships held at Colt State Park on Saturday in Bristol, R.I.
The Owls, who moved up 15 spots to 13th in this week's national poll, ran several sub-varsity runners in the race. KSC finished with 100 points. Williams won the championship with 64 points.
Junior Sam Wood (Laconia, N.H.) was the first Owl to cross the finish line. He placed sixth with a time of 26:43. Sophomore Eric MacKnight (Newton, Conn.) was 10th with a time of 26:50. Sophomore Corey Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) (12th/26:57), freshman Kevin Hoyt (Newtown, Conn.) (26th/27:33), and junior Brian Anderson (Pembroke, N.H.) (46th/27:57) round out the top finishers for Keene State.
Adam Smith of St. Vincent (Pa.) College won the race with a time of 26:18.
The Keene State women, who didn't run a complete team, were paced by freshman Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.) who placed 59th with a time of 25:34.
Williams won the women's title with 23 points.
Keene State competes next Saturday at the New England regional championships at Williams College.
