RINDGE 4/2/08 - The Keene State women's lacrosse team evened its
record at 4-4 with a 17-12 victory over Franklin Pierce University
in Rindge on Wednesday.
The Owls scored the first five goals of the game on the way to
building a 9-2 halftime lead. An unassisted goal by freshman
Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) put KSC
Up 14-6 at the 18:36 mark of the second half. The Ravens late rally
fell short dropping their record to 1-6.
Senior attack Michelle Mazzotta (Cromwell,
Conn.) led a balanced Owl attack with five goals. She has 14 goals
on the season. Freshmen Jamie Albert (Southington
Conn.), Jenny Lillis (West Islip, N.Y., and Kirk finished the game
with three goals each. First years Missy Luzzi
(Oakland, N.J.) and Emily Persano (Somers, N.Y.)
also scored for KSC. Lauren Stille topped FPU with
four goals.
Jen Gearing (Westfield, Mass.) started in goal
for KSC. She made seven saves before giving way to freshman
Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Me.) early in the second
half. Ledoux was credited with as saves.
Keene State is at Rhode Island College on Saturday.
