WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. 3/18/09 - The Keene State College women's
lacrosse team lost to Fredonia (N.Y.) State 14-9 in a "Spring
Fling" game played in West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday.
The game, originally scheduled to be played at 10 a.m., was
postponed until 1:30 p.m. after a hard rain storm flooded the
field.
The Owls (1-3) fell behind 8-2 at the half. They scored
four straight goals coming out the break to narrow the deficit to
8-6 on a goal by sophomore Jamie Albert
(Southington, Conn.).
Sophomore attack Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson
Station, N.Y.) had three goals to lead the Owls.
Emily Persano (Somers, Conn.), and Albert chipped
in with a pair goals while Lauren Sawyer
(Westbrook, Me.) had two assists.
Owl senior goalie Jen Gearing (Westfield,
Mass.) finished the game with 13 saves.
Keene State wraps up its trip with a game against Plymouth State
on Friday.
