WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. 3/20/09 - The Keene State College women's
lacrosse team concluded its Spring Week trip with a 12-10
come-from-behind win over rival Plymouth State University in West
Palm Beach on Friday.
The Owls, who won two of their three games on the trip, improve
to 2-3. Plymouth State falls to 0-3.
Junior midfielder Dene Tully (Peabody, Mass.)
had three goals to lead the Owls.
Keene State trailed 7-5 at the half before rallying for the
win. After the Panthers scored the first goal of the second
half to go up 8-5, the Owls netted four straight goals to take a
9-8 lead. The first three goals came on free position shots,
two by sophomore Jaime Albert (Southington, Conn.)
and one by sophomore Emily Persano (Somers,
Conn.). Persano then scored an unassisted goal go put KSC
ahead.
With the score knotted at 10-all, senior midfielder
Molly Corcoran (Concord, N.H.) netted the go ahead
goal with 7:30 to go. KSC held possession and got an
insurance goal from Tully with six minute to play.
"I thought we played with a lot of focus," said KSC Coach
Katie Arsenault. "When we got down, we
didn't lose our composure."
Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.),
Albert, and Persano each had two goals while freshman
Samantha Benson (Hampstead, N.H.) added two
assists.
Taylor Cambal had four goals for the Panthers.
Making her first start of the season in goal, sophomore
Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Me.) made a career high
14 saves for KSC. Nicole Provencher also stopped 14 shots for
PSU.
Keene State hosts Springfield College on Tuesday (4:30 p.m.).
