Keene, N.H. 3/24/09 - Keene State College lost to Springfield
College 14-4 in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Owl
Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The Owls got single goals from junior Dene Tully
(Peabody, Mass.), and sophomores Jill Kirk (Port
Jefferson Station, N.Y.), Lauren Sawyer
(Westbrook, Me.), and Jamie Albert (Southington,
Conn.).
Senior Heather Dobson (Longmeadow, Mass.) led the Pride with four
goals and two assists. Sophomore Kaeleigh Lannan (Derry,
N.H.) added three goals and an assist, and junior Alexandra Bazzano
(Newington, Conn.) chipped in with two goals.
Coming from behind the net, Albert scored KSC's first goal of the
game to make it 2-1. Springfield answered with six
consecutive goals to go up 8-1. Dobson netted two of her
goals during the flurry. Leading 9-2 at the half, the Pride
netted the first two goals of the second half to go up 11-2.
Senior Jen Gearing (Westfield, Mass.) and
sophomore Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Me.) each
played a half in goal for KSC. Gearing made seven saves and
Ledoux turned aside three shots.
Junior Lauren McAulay (Yorktown, N.Y.) started in goal for the
Pride and made six saves. Freshman Katelyn Lavin (Port
Jefferson Station, N.Y.) played the final 13:31 and stopped three
shots.
Springfield has won all seven games between the two teams.
Keene State (2-4) plays its first Little East Conference game of
the season at Eastern Conn. State on Saturday (12 p.m.).
Extending its winning streak to three games, Springfield College
(4-2) return home to face Plymouth State on Thursday (4 p.m.).
