HARTFORD, CONN. 3/28/09 - The Keene State College men's track
team had an auspicious start to its outdoor season, setting three
school records and having two automatic NCAA Championship
qualifying performances at the Trinity College Bantam Invitational
on Saturday.
Sophomore Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) broke
his KSC record and posted an automatic NCAA Championship mark with
his first place finish (189'-09") in the hammer throw. He
also set an Owl record (149'-00") with his first place effort in
the discus. Teammate Nick White (Westbrook, Conn.) was second
with a mark of 139'-0").
Making his debut for the Owls, junior Dan
Colina (Dover, N.H.) set a KSC record and recorded an NCAA
automatic mark with his first place performance in the javelin
(213'-10"). Colin set the record with his first throw in the
competition.
On the track, freshman Elias Grijalva (Manchester, N.H.) placed
third in the 200-meter race (23.50).
In the women's field, junior Christina Bourbeau
(Manchester, N.H.) tied for first place in the pole vault
(9'-11.75"). She also joined Amy Knoblock
(Plymouth, Mass.), Kimber Stannard (Higganum,
Conn.). and Haley Lydstone (Bedford, N.H.) to lead
KSC to a third place finish (4:15.84) in the 4x400 relay.
Sophomore Allison Chamberlain placed second in
the 800-meter race with a time of 2:20.24.
