NEW LONDON, N.H. 4/13/09 - The Keene State women's lacrosse team
used a balanced scoring attack to post a 14-6 non-conference
victory over Colby-Sawyer College in New London on Monday
afternoon.
Winners of four of its last five games, KSC improves to
6-7. Colby-Sawyer falls to 2-8. "I thought we showed a
lot of patience and cut down on our fouls, said KSC Coach
Katie Arsenault, a former player and assistant
coach at CSC.
Sophomore midfielder Emily Persano (Somers,
Conn.) and freshman Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.)
each had three goals while Lauren Sawyer
(Westbrook, Me.), Jaime Albert (Southington,
Conn.) and Dene Tully (Peabody, Mass.) found the
back of the net twice for the Owls. Brittany
Bastarache and Missy Luzzi (Oakland,
N.J.) accounted for the other two goals.
Alicia Murphy scored three of the Chargers' six goals.
Keene State scored the finals five goals of the fist half to
take a 9-3 lead to the locker room. Corace netted a pair
during the uprising.
Albert and Tully scored to start the second half to extend KSC's
lead to 11-3.
Making her second start of the season, sophomore Meghan
Ledoux (Standish, Me.) finished the game with seven
saves. Alicia Foss stopped 18 shots for Colby-Sawyer.
Keene State is at Smith College on Thursday (5 p.m.).
