NORTHAMPTON, MASS. 4/16/09 - The Keene State women's
lacrosse team extended its winning streak to three games with a
17-7 non-conference victory over Smith College in Northampton on
Thursday.
The Owls, who evened their record at 7-7, used a balanced
scoring attack with Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Me.), Jenny
Lillis (West Islip, N.Y.), and Caitlyn
Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) each netting three goals.
Keene State scored the first four goals of the games with Lillis
scoring a pair two minutes apart. After Smith got on the
board, KSC scored five straight times on the way to taking a 9-2
halftime lead. Dene Tully (Peabody, Mass.),
Sawyer, and Jamie Albert (Southington, Conn.)
scored coming out of the break to up the lead to 12-2.
Blair Rapalyea had three goals to lead the Pioneers (3-8).
Jen Gearing (Westfield, Mass.) made seven saves
before giving way to Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Me.)
who stopped two shot over the final 13 minutes.
Chelsea Henderson played the first 50 minutes and made 10 saves
for Smith. Elizabeth Niehoff made two saves in the last 10
minutes of the game.
Keene State returns home for a LEC game against UMass-Dartmouth
on Saturday (1 p.m.).
