WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. 10/16/10 – The Keene State men's
and women's cross country teams each finished third at the
Plansky Invitational held at the Mount Greylock High School in
Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday.
Keene State, which ran its sub-varsity team, was led by freshman
Chris Chapman (Groton, Conn.), who placed 27th on the challenging
8K course with a time of 29:29. He was followed to the finish
line by freshman Chris Ager (Keene, N.H.) who finished 31st
(29:45). Sophomore Chance Wilk (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and
freshman Nick Riendeau (Canterbury, N.H.) finished in 34th (29:59)
and 35th (30:00) place respectively with sophomore Evan Thompson
(Somersworth, N.H.), placing 39th (30: 27) rounding out the KSC
scorers.
Keene State, ranked 29th nationally and third in New England,
finished the race with 166 points. Coast Guard won the team
championship with 40 points. Macklin Chaffee, a Williams'
alum, won the race with a time of 26:19.
Junior Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.) raced to an 11th place finish
(25:48) to lead the Owl women on the 6K course. Freshman Erin
Crawford (Townsend, Mass.) was KSC's second runner, placing
13th (25:51). Freshmen Mackenzie Curtis (Lamoine,
Maine), Nikki Leeman (Round Pond, Maine), and Kristian Sullivan
(Keene, N.H.) finished 17th (26:21), 18th (26:21), and 19th (26:31)
respectively.
The KSC women tallied 78 points. Coast Guard edged
Williams (22-33) to win the women's team title. Blair
Robinson of Williams won the individual championship with a time of
24:03.
Keene State will compete in the LEC/Alliance Championship next
Saturday in Worcester.
