MILTON, MASS.3/11/10- Keene State College broke
open a close game by scoring 11 second half goals on the way
to posting a 16-10 non-conference women's lacrosse
victory to over Curry College in Milton on Thursday.
The Owls (2-0) remain undefeated while the Colonels fall to 1-1
overall.
Sophomore Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, NY) and
freshmen Nicole Curry (Hampstead) and
Lauren Brown (Agawam, MA) scored the last three
goals of the half to enable Keene State to take a slim 5-4
lead into the break.
Keene State took control of the game in the second half. After
Curry got back to within one at 9-8, the Owls found the back
of the net seven more times.
Junior Jamie Albert (Southington, Conn.) led
the Owls offense with four goals. Corace and Curry each had three
goals while junior Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, ME)
tallied two goals and added five assists for a team high seven
points. Juniors Emily Persano (Somers,
CT), Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, NY) and
Jenny Lillis (West Islip, N.Y.), and Brown chipped
in with one goal.
Rachel Robichaud scored three goals to lead the Colonels.
Sophomore Alyssa Marinaccio (Narragansett, R.I)
earned the win in net for KSC with 10 saves. Junior Maria
Lynch made a career high 15 saves for Curry in the losing
effort.
Both teams will head south for spring break. Keene State
will play Clarkson on Monday March 15.
