SPRINGFIELD, Mass. 3/23/10 – The Keene State College women's lacrosse
team fell to the Springfield College Pride 16-8 on Tuesday night in
non-conference action. The Owls have dropped three straight after
starting the season with two wins.
KSC trailed 5-2 in the first-half, after
Pride midfielder Alexandra Bazzano scored on a free-position shot with 19
minutes remaining.
The Owls fought back, rattling off three straight goals, with two
coming from freshman midfielder Nicole Curry
(Hampstead, N.H.) and
one from junior attack Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson
Station, N.Y.), to even
the game at five apiece.
After KSC and Springfield traded goals before the half, the Pride
would outscore the Owls 9-2 in the second half, en-route to a 16-8
victory.
Junior attack Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook,
Maine) scored two goals
and dished out four assists to lead the Owls offense. Curry and
Kirk also netted multiple goals with two apiece.
KSC netminder Alyssa Marinaccio (Narragansett,
R.I.) made six saves in
the loss.
The Owls return to action Tuesday, March 30th, with a 6 pm game against Division II
Franklin Pierce.
