LOWELL, MASS. 4/10/10 – Keene State won four races, and
freshman Glenn Guilmette (Kensington, N.H.) posted
an NCAA Division III qualifying mark in the javelin event at the
George Davis Track & Field Invitational hosted by UMass-Lowell
at the Cushing Field Complex on Saturday.
Competing in his third collegiate meet, Guilmette won the
javelin event with an NCAA qualifying mark of 206'-09”.
In other field events, junior Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood,
N.H.) finished third in the discus (140'-10”)
and fifth in the shot-put (43'-11.75”).
On the track, junior Timothy Pipp (New Ipswich,
N.H.) won the 5,000-meter race with a time of
15:23.97. Sophomore Kevin Hoyt (Newtown,
Conn.) was third (15:26.63). Seniors Peter Najem
(Derry, N.H.) and Jared Samuel (Londonderry,
N.H.) also turned in strong performances. Najem
placed third in the 1,500 (3:57.78) and Samuel took fourth in the
two-mile race (9:22.62).
Senior Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Maine)
and junior Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) raced to
wins for the Owl women. Chamberlain won the 1,500 (4:43. 60)
and placed third in the 400 (59.36). Knoblock topped the
field with a time of 18:53.22 in the 5,000. Freshman
Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) was third in the
5K with a time of 19:07.40. The team of sophomore
Haley Lydstone (Bedford, N.H.), Chamberlain,
Fitter, and Knoblock finished second in the 4x400 relay (4:12.48).
Running in her first outdoor meet of the season, Andrea
Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) placed second in the
3,000-steeplechase (11:31.64). In women's field events,
junior Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.) placed fourth
(37'-07.75”) in the shot-put.
Keene State competes next Saturday at the Springfield College
Invitational.
