PROVIDENCE, R.I. 4/10/10 – Sophomore Caitlyn
Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) netted a career high six goals to
lead Keene State over Rhode Island College 20-6 in Little East
Conference women's lacrosse action in Providence on Saturday.
The Owls, who extend their winning streak to four games, improve
to 6-3 (2-0 LEC) while R.I. College falls to 3-4 and 0-2 in
conference play.
The outcome was never in doubt as KSC scored three goals in the
first three minutes of play on the way to building a 12-4 halftime
lead.
Freshman Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) scored
four goals and junior Jamie Albert (Southington,
Conn.) netted three goals for the Owls. Junior
Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine) finished with two
goals and four assists.
Sophomore Nicky Drolet (Somersworth, N.H.) led the Anchorwomen
with three goals.
Keene State goalies sophomore Alyssa Marinaccio
(Narragansett, R.I.) and freshman Christine
Collins (Cheshire, Conn.) both saw time between the
pipes. Marinaccio made five saves while Collins stopped two
shots.
Freshman Kerri Montgomery (Franklin, Mass.) made nine saves for
RIC.
Keene State hosts Smith College on Thursday (7 p.m.).
