Box Score KEENE, N.H. 4/15/10 – Juniors Jill Kirk (Port
Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and Jamie Albert
(Southington, Conn.) each scored four goals to lead Keene
State College to a 18-9 victory over Smith College in
non-conference women's lacrosse action at Owl Athletic
Complex on Thursday evening. Albert also dished out three assists.
Keene State (7-3) extends its winning streak to five games while
Smith (3-9) has dropped its last seven games.
Leading 5-4, the Owls scored three goals in a 34 second span to
go up 8-6. Albert netted a pair and had an assist on a goal
by Kirk in the uprising. Kirk added another goal before the
half as KSC went to the locker room with a 9-4 lead.
Keene State scored five unanswered goals to start the second
half to extend its lead to 14-4.
Sophomore Caitlin Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) had
three goals and freshman Lauren Brown (Agawam,
Mass.) finished with two goals. Junior
Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine) added a goal and
four assists.
Seniors Kaitlyn Murdough (Hinsdale, N.H.) and Carolyn Whiting
(South Orange, N.J.) each had three goals for the Pioneers.
Sophomore Alyssa Marinaccio (Narragansett,
R.I.) made nine saves for KSC.
Freshman Alina Pechacek (Andover, Mass.) played the first 22
minutes in goal for Smith and made two saves. Freshman
Meredith Kallfelz (North Easton, Mass.) played the remainder of the
game and stopped seven shots.
Both teams return to action on Saturday. Keene State hosts
Western Conn. in a key Little East game and Smith College is home
against Wheaton College.
