Box Score KEENE, N.H. 4/19/10 – Sophomore Caitlyn
Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) tied her season high with six goals
and junior Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine) broke
her own school record with nine assists as Keene State College
rolled to a 21-4 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over
Colby-Sawyer College in Keene on Monday afternoon.
Keene State which extends its winning streak to seven games (one
shy of the school record), improves to 9-3. The 21 goals is
the biggest offensive outburst for the Owls since tallying 22
against Salem State in 2003 and Norwich in the 2008 season.
Colby-Sawyer (3-10) suffered its fourth straight loss.
The Owls scored the last seven goals of the first half to take
an 11-3 lead and never looked back.
Junior Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.)
scored a season high five goals to go with three assists while
junior Jamie Albert netted a pair.
Sawyer broke her game assists record with 49 seconds to play in
the game when she set up a goal by sophomore Adrienne
Itri (Braintree, Mass.). “My attackers were
making good cuts and getting open,” said Sawyer. My teammates
made it easy for me.”
Senior Elaina Kennedy (Sunderland, Mass.) had two of the
Chargers' four goals.
Sophomore Alyssa Marinaccio (Narragansett,
R.I.) and freshman Christine Collins (Cheshire,
Conn.) each played a half in goal for KSC. Marinaccio made
five saves while Collins stopped three shots.
Freshman Ekta Sampson (Hyde Park, Vt.) had a busy day in goal
for CSC, making 15 saves.
Keene State hosts Castleton State on Wednesday.
