Box Score KEENE, N.H. 4/21/10 –Freshman Nicole
Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) scored a season high five goals to
lead Keene State to an 18-11 victory over Castleton State in
non-conference women's lacrosse action at Owl Athletic
Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
With the victory, Keene State (10-3) ties the program record for
consecutive wins (8) set last season. Castleton State (10-5)
saw its three-game winning streak come to and end.
Leading 8-6 at the half, the Owls scored seven straight goals
coming out of the break to take a commanding 15-6 lead.
Junior Jamie Albert (Southington, Conn.), who
finished with four goals giving her a team-high 42 on the season,
and sophomore Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.)
started the uprising with two quick goals. Freshman
Lindsay McManus (Dover, N.H.) concluded the flurry
by scoring her first two collegiate goals within a span of 20
seconds.
Juniors Lauren Sawyer (Westbrook, Maine) and
Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) did a
good job distributing the ball for KSC. Sawyer had a goal and five
assists while Kirk dished out four assists to go with her one goal.
Junior Marie VanDer Kar (Manchester, Vt.) had five goals and
graduate student Nicole Adams (Rutland, Vt.) chipped in with three
goals and three assists for the Spartans.
Sophomore Alyssa Marinaccio (Narragansett,
R.I.) made eight saves for KSC. Freshman Lily Derbyshire
(Little Compton, R.I.) started the game in goal for Castleton and
stopped 10 shots. Junior Rebecca Duszak (Erieville, N.Y.)
played the final 13 minutes and did not register a save.
Both teams return to conference play on Saturday. Keene State
visits UMass-Dartmouth and Castleton hosts Framingham State.
