NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 4/24/10 – Keene State
men's and women outdoor track teams finished second at the
Little East Championships held at UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday.
The Keene State men tallied 113 points. Southern Maine won its
third consecutive championship with 157.50 points.
On the women's side, the Owls finished with 108
points. Southern Maine claimed its 11th consecutive title
with 234 points.
In the Alliance standings, the KSC men were fourth (105 points)
while the Owl women placed third (107 points).
Junior Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) had
a huge day in field events for Keene State, winning the hammer
(190'03”), shot-put (45'-08.50”), and
discus (140'-09”) events. Kolacz's mark in
the hammer was a meet and season best and his throw in the shot-put
was a school record. Freshman Dante Hill
(Springfield, Mass.) was second in the shot (45'-0.25')
and Nick White (Westbrook, Conn.) placed second in
the discus (127'-07”).
In other field events, senior Dan Colina
(Rochester, N.H.) won the javelin with an NCAA provisional
qualifying mark of 203'-01”). Freshman
Glenn Guilmette (Kensington, N.H.) took second
(198'-01”).
Senior Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) won two races
on the track, topping the field in the 800 (1:56.79) and the 1,500
(3:57.60). Junior Tim Pipp (New Ipswich,
N.H.) finished first in the 10,000 (32:02.46).
Junior Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Maine)
led the KSC women with wins in the 400 (57.94) and the 1,500
(4:38.65). Her time in the 400 was a meet record. The Owls
swept the top three places in the 1,500 with junior Amy
Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) taking second 4:39.65 and
freshman Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) taking
third (4:47.17). Fitter also won the 800 (2:18.31) with
Knoblock placing second (2:20.14).
Sophomore Haley Lydstone (Bedford, N.H.) also
teamed up with Chamberlain, Fitter, and Knoblock to win the 4x400
relay (4:08.03).
In addition, sophomore Andrea Walsh (Bolton,
Conn.) won the 3,000 steeplechase (11:16.11) and sophomore
Paige Mills (Keene, N.H.) won the 5,000 race in a
meet record time of 18:24.08.
In field events for the women, juniors Bryanna
Brown (Nashua, N.H.) and Katherine Deloid
(Bedford, N.H.) finished third respectively in the shot-put
(37'-08.75”) and the discus (113'-05”).
