FITCHBURG, Mass. 4/3/10 – The Keene State
College men's and women's track and field teams
competed at the Jim Sheehen Memorial Track Invitational on Saturday
afternoon at Fitchburg State. Top performers include freshman
javelin thrower Glenn Guilmette (Brentwood, N.H.)
and Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) for the men, and
junior Allison Chamberlain (Scarborough, Maine)
for the women.
Guilmette, last week's Little East Conference Rookie Field
Athlete of the Week, threw the javelin 57.56 meters
(188'10'') to win the javelin event. Senior
Dan Colina (Rochester, N.H.) placed 6th with a
throw of 52.15 meters (171'-01''). Also in the
throwing events, freshman shot-putter Dante Hill
(Springfield, Mass.) broke the KSC outdoor record in the
shot-put event with a toss of 13.90 meters
(45'-7.25'') and a sixth place finish.
On the track, Najem placed 2nd in the 1500 meters with a time of
3:59.65.
The men came in 8th place scoring 36 points at the meet. Bates
College won the meet with 180 points.
For the women, Chamberlain's time of 4:45.42 was good
enough to beat teammate Amy Knoblock (Plymouth,
Mass.) in the 1500.
Also, the women's 4X400 relay came in first place in a
time of 4:10.56.
The women came in 6th as a team, scoring 62.5 points. Bates also
won the women's title with 144.50 points on the day.
The Owl track team returns to action Saturday, April 10th as
they will travel to UMass-Lowell for their invitational starting at
10 a.m.
