DEDHAM, Mass. 5/8/10 – The Keene State
College men's and women's track team competed at
All-Division New England's on Friday and Saturday at
Northeastern University. For the men, junior Bryan Kolacz
(Brentwood, N.H.) won the hammer event and Paige
Mills (Keene, N.H.) and Amy Knoblock (Plymouth,
Mass.) led the women with NCAA provisional times in the 5k
and 1500 respectively.
Kolacz, who also won the championship last season, threw 57.73
meters (189'5'') to take home the crown. Also in
the throwing events, senior Dan Colina (Rochester,
N.H.) placed 6th in the javelin throw with a heave of
59.77 meters (196'1'').
In other men's results, junior Tim Pipp (New
Ipswich, N.H.) earned All-New England honors with his 7th
place finish in the 10k with a time of 31:47.23. Senior
Peter Najem (Derry, N.H.) improved his NCAA
provisional time in the 1500 with a time of 3:50.67.
As a team, the men finished 18th with 19 points. The University
of Rhode Island won the men's championship with 95.33 points.
On the women's side, Mills' 8th place finish in the
5k hit the NCAA provisional mark with a time of 17:28.20. Knoblock
ran a personal best and NCAA provisional time in the 1500 with her
time of 4:35.99.
The Owl women finished in 37th place with two points. Boston
College won the team championship with 102 points on the weekend.
The Owls will return to action next weekend at the ECAC
Championships hosted by Springfield College.
