Box Score KEENE, N.H. 3/24/11 – Keene State College freshman goalkeeper Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) had a career-high 15 saves, but the Owls fell to the No. 19 ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears 15-3 on Thursday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex.
KSC drops to 1-4 on the year, while the Polar Bears improve to 3-1 on the season.
Senior Katy Dissinger (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) and sophomore Carolyn Gorajek (Hightstown, N.J.) led the way with four points apiece for Bowdoin. Dissinger netted four goals while Gorajek scored three goals and dished out one assist.
Sophomore midfielder Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) scored two of the three Owls goals to lead Keene State. Senior midfielder Jamie Albert (Southington, Conn.) also had two point on the day, netting the other KSC goal and assistsing on one of Brown's markers late in the first half.
Taylor, despite breaking her career-high in saves with 15, takes the loss for the Owls to drop to 1-4 on the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tara Connolly (Simsbury, Conn.) picked up the win for the Polar bears making three saves in the first half. Sophomore Alexandra Brown (Lexington, Mass.) played the game's final thirty minutes in between the pipes for Bowdoin, allowing just one goal and making four saves.
The Owls were outshot by the Polar Bears 38-13. Bowdoin also held an advantage in ground balls (33-24), draw controls (11-9) and had 10 free position shots to KSC's four.
KSC return to action next Thursday, as they will square off against Division II Franklin Pierce at 4 p.m. at Owl Athletic Complex. Bowdoin returns to action on Saturday as they will take on NESCAC foe Amherst at noon.
