FITCHBURG, MASS. 4/30/11 – The Keene State College track team won six events at the 2011 New England Alliance Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Fitchburg State's Elliot Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Senior Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) had a big day in field events, winning the hammer throw (198'-01") and the shot-put (48'-03.50") and placing second in the discus (146'-09). Sophomore Dante Hill (Springfield, Mass.) was second in the shot (47'-05.75) and freshman Angus Fisher (Northampton, Mass.) was fourth in the discus (137'-00").
On the track, senior Corey Loonan (Sandwich, Mass.) won the 3,000-meter steeple chase in a time of 9:45.69.
Junior Kevin Hoyt (Newtown, Conn.) was second (15:40.61) and sophomore Thomas Paquette (Bolton, Conn.) took fourth (15:53.27) in the 5,000 race.
Keene State tallied 73 points to finish sixth in the Alliance standings. Westfield State won the Alliance title with 158 points. In the Little East standing, the KSC men placed fifth with 89 points. Southern Maine won its fourth straight LEC crown with 174.50 points.
The Keene State women secured most of the points in the distance and mid-distance events at the meet. Freshman Erin Crawford (Townsend, Mass.) won the 10,000-meter race with a time of 40:31. 93. Freshman Erin Duffy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished third (41:12.05).
Junior Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:19.22). Junior teammate Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.) placed second (11:39.75).
Senior Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) won the 1,500 (4:34.14) and was fourth in the 800 (2:20.86). Sophomore Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) was third in the 1,500 (4:51.99) and fifth in the 800 (2:23.35).
Sophomore Janel Haggerty (Guilford, Conn.) finished second in the high jump (5'-02.25") and was third in the 400 (1:01.46).
In field events, junior Keeley Moffitt (Guilford, Conn.) finished fourth in the hammer (131'-04") and sixth in the discus (105'-08"). Freshman Kristen Huckins (Westmoreland, N.H.) placed fifth in the javelin (115'-04").
Keene State had 94 points to finish fourth in the Alliance standings and 111.50 points to finished third in the Little East. Southern Maine won both the Alliance (177 points) and LEC titles (254.50 points).
