Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. 3/12/12 – The Keene State College women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-10 game to SUNY-Brockport at the Spring Fling tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Monday night.
It was the first loss of the season for the Owls (1-1).
Keene State fell behind 7-5 at the half and couldn't catch the Golden Eagles (1-0), who were playing their first game of the season.
"Overall, I was pretty pleased with how we played, said KSC Coach Katie Arsenault. "They had everyone back from a team that went to the NCAA tournament last year, so it was a good sign that we were able to play with them."
Sophomore Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) led Keene State with four goals and one assist. Seniors Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) and Sammi Benson (Hampstead, N.H.) each had two goals while single goals were scored by sophomore Julie Trombetta (Trumbull, Conn.) and junior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.).
Senior Dayna Piraino had four goals for Brockport.
Sophomore Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) finished the game with 11 saves for the Owls. Freshman Hannah O'Connor turned aside five shots for the Golden eagles.
Keene State faces a Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) College team that began varsity play in 2010, on Wednesday.
