Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA.  3/14/12 – The Keene State College women's lacrosse team wrapped up its two-game Spring Week trip with a 20-11 victory over Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) College in West Palm Beach, FLA on Wednesday afternoon.

The Owls (2-1) split their two games at the Spring Fling, falling to College of Brockport 16-10 on Monday.  Mount St. Mary goes to 0-4.

Junior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) tied her career high with five goals and sophomore Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) and senior Sammi Benson (Hampstead, N.H.) netted four and three goals respectively to lead the Owls to the non-conference win. Brown's five goals give her a team high nine for the season.  Coach Katie Arsenault was especially pleased with the play of Witherbee. "Eliza is really coming out of her shell," said Arsenault.  "She's really good in transition and has a strong drive to the net."

Keene State jumped out to a 3-0 lead on unassisted goals by Benson, Brown and sophomore Ashley Borjeson (Londonderry, N.H.).  After the Knights scored to make it 3-1, the Owls responded with three more goals, going up 6-1 on freshman Polly Grey's (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) first college goal.  KSC scored the final four goals of the first half to take a commanding 14-4 lead at the break.

Senior Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) and junior Lindsay McManus (Dover, N.H.) each tallied a pair of goals for the Owls.

Sophomore Amanda Giarrizzo and freshman Ela Igdeler each had three goals for Mount St. Mary, a young varsity team that began play in 2010.

Sophomore Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) started in goal for Keene State. She played the first 45 minutes and made two saves.  Junior Christine Collins (Cheshire, Conn.) took over, playing the last 15 minutes and stopping three shots.

Sophomore Lauren Beltrami finished the game with eight saves for the Knights.

Keene State is off until Tues., March 20 when it travels down to Springfield College.
