AMHERST, MASS. 4/14/12 – Several Owl athletes turned in strong performances at the UMass-Amherst Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore Kristen Huckins (Westmoreland, N.H.) had the top effort by the Keene State women's team, placing fourth in the javelin with a throw of 121'-07". In other field events, sophomore Sarah DiTonno (Wakefield, Mass.) placed 10th in the shot-put (35'-10.75").
On the track, freshman Kaley Mientkiewicz (Hanson, Mass.) finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:16.72) and junior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) was ninth in the 800 (2:16.73).
The University of Albany won the women's championship with 148.07 points.
In the men's field, junior Chris Plankey (Bristol, N.H.) was eighth in the 1,500 and freshman ben Keach (Newfield, N.H.) placed eighth in the discus (133').
Freshman Blake Pearson (Alstead, N.H.) also tied for fourth in the pole vault with a height of 12'-09.50".
Host UMass-Amherst won the men's team title with 125 points.
Keene State competes next weekend at the Springfield College Invitational.
