Box Score NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 4/21/12 – The Keene State College women's lacrosse team used a balanced scoring attack to secure a 15-3 Little East Conference victory over UMass-Dartmouth at Cressy Field on Saturday.
With the victory Keene State Coach Katie Arsenault becomes the program's all-time leader in wins with 50. She surpasses the previous mark of 49 set by Emily Johnson who coached the Owls from 2002-06. Arsenault, who took over the team in 2009 has a career mark of 50-22 (.694 pct.) in her four seasons directing the Owls.
"All of credit goes to the players," said Arsenault about the milestone. "This team really works hard and gets along well so that makes my job a lot easier."
Winners of nine of their last 10 games, the Owls (11-3, 4-1 LEC) made sure that Arsenault obtained the record by jumping out to a 7-1 halftime lead. KSC scored eight consecutive goals to start the second half, coasting to the victory.
Senior Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) and sophomore Julie Trombetta (Trumbull, Conn.) led the Owls' offense with three goals each. Juniors Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) and Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) and sophomore Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) each had two goals. Freshman Olivia Casey-Moore (Bennington, Vt.) scored her first college goal.
"We played really well, especially on offense," said Arsenault. "They took their time waiting for the best option and scored some nice goals. We have just three games before the tournament, so we also took the time to work on stuff."
Sophomore goalies Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) and Libby Curran (Londonderry, N.H.), saw time between the pipes and had two saves each.
Junior Angelina Donovan (Medford, Mass.) stopped 15 shots for the Corsairs (5-10, 0-4 LEC).
Keene State returns home for a non-conference game against Castleton State on Tuesday.
