Box Score

KEENE, 4/3/12 – Junior Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.)  netted a career high five goals to lead Keene State College to a 16-8 victory over Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Owl Athletic Complex on Tuesday.

Keene State, which extends its winning streak to four games, improves to 6-2.  Colby Sawyer (4-5) saw its three game winning streak come to an end.

Junior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) scored the Owls first two goals in the first minute and a half of the game.  After CSC junior Laurel Bauer (Bradford, N.H.) made it 2-1, Keene State reeled off the next 10 goals to take a 12-1 halftime lead.  Curry scored four of her goals in the first half uprising.  "It was good for us to get out there and score some goals right away. Our goal today was to run through our plays and we were able to do that," said Curry, who now has nine goals this season.  "Everyone was on the same page and we got some good looks at their goal."

Sophomore Julie Trombetta (Trumbull, Conn.) scored the first goal of the second half to put the Owls on top 13-1.  The Chargers came alive, scoring the next four goals to make it a 13-5 game.

After a time-out, senior Caitlyn Corace (Mahopac, N.Y.) and Curry found the back of the net to push the Owls' lead back up to 15-5.

Junior Lauren Brown (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) each had three goals for the Owls.  Trombetta netted a pair and junior Lindsay McManus (Dover, N.H.), freshman Christa Demovellan (Westwood, Mass.) and Corace had single tallies.  Freshman Polly Grey (Saratoga, N.Y.) and Witherbee also had three assists.

Senior Brittany Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) scored five second half goals for the Chargers.

Sophomore Erin Taylor (Brewster, N.Y.) had a solid game in goal for the Owls before being lifted early in the second half.  She stopped four shots, robbing CSC senior Molly Prudden (Andover, Mass.) of a goal with a point-blank save early in the game.  Sophomore Libby Curran (Londonderry, N.H.) played the final 21 minutes of the game and made two saves.

Sophomore Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.) finished the game with five saves for the Chargers.

Keene State will now get set for Saturday's showdown against Eastern Conn. The key Little East game at Owl Athletic Complex is at 1 p.m.
